Gold coin owner receives 'surprise' evaluation at roadshow
A man who took two coins and some jewellery along to a roadshow in the US discovered they were worth far more than he originally thought. Mark Fitzgerald, from Bowdoinham, took the money, along with three old pocket watches and some other jewels, to the Treasure Hunters Roadshow in Freeport, MPBN reports.

Finnish scientists 'crack gold nanocluster mystery'
Scientists at the University of Jyvaskyla in Finland have solved a ten-year mystery by successfully determining the structural, electronic and optical properties of chrial gold nanoclusters. The work was carried out in partnership with teams at Kansas State University and Hokkaido University in Japan, with support from the Academy of Finland and the IT Center for Science.

Gold-woven Renaissance tapestries to go on show

Sales of US gold coins struck for investors have soared in recent times, according to new figures. Statistics from the US Mint show that gold Eagles are selling at the same rate as they were during the scare over the millennium bug in 1999, with sales of 22-c gold bullion American Eagles up by 65,500 in the last week alone.
